This requisition is for the Lihue Customer Service training pool ONLY. Positions are typically posted 3 - 4 weeks prior to the recruitment event and posted for a limited time only.Please monitor our current openings page and apply for those positions when it is posted.
*Work Schedule:*
During training: Up to 15 days full-time, typically Monday - Friday. Training will be conducted in Honolulu and is unpaid. Transportation to and from training is provided.
*If hired: schedules are awarded on a seniority basis. Work schedules may be part-time or full-time.*
*Part-time and full-time shift schedules are 5 days on, 2 days off. Days off may not necessarily be consecutive. Schedules are set, however, may change throughout the year in conjunction with the collective bargaining agreement. Part-time is 20 - 30 hours per week and may be extended up to 40 based on operational need and in conjunction with the union contract.*

*Pay & Benefits:*
Pay for the position is in conjunction with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and is $10.92 per hour.
Medical, dental and vision and Hawaiian Airlines flight benefits are offered.
*About the Airport Customer Service Training Pool:*
Candidates in the Airport Customer Service Training Pool from this recruitment will be can be considered for the Customer Service Agent and Cargo Agent position.
If you are successful in the screening process and identified as a candidate to be considered for training, you will be placed into the training pool.
Final candidates from the screening process will remain in the training pool for six months, subject to extension. Candidates not invited for training by then will need to re-apply for the training opportunity.
*Customer Service Agent Key Responsibilities:*
Performs any one or combination of airport duties involving customer contact and operational duties. Such duties shall include, but will not be limited to:
* Assisting guests with check-in procedures, including baggage handling and issuing boarding passes
* Selling tickets, processing ticket changes, creating and booking reservations
* Ensuring FAA, Company and airport regulations are followed
* Enforcing safety/security measures and protect sensitive zones
* Accounting for cash and credit card transactions
* Checking and correcting airport reports and other documents
* As directed, implementing standard procedures during overbooked, irregular flights and denied boarding situations. Solicits volunteers to free up seats, re-accommodates guests by booking alternative flights and provides travel vouchers
* Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, which includes the ability to lift up to 70 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs. frequently
* Identifying and escalating issues as required
* Performing other related duties as required
*Cargo Agent Key Responsibilities:*
Performs any one or combination of duties involving customer contact and operational duties. Such duties shall include, but will not be limited to:
* Safe and proper servicing of all inbound and outbound cargo, and the preparation, reporting, and accounting of necessary documents (including but not limited to U.S. Customs documents, air cargo manifests, air waybill)
* Servicing the public in all aspects of handling freight, and other requests governed by associated Federal & State Agencies
* Builds-up, breaks down Unit Load Device(s) (ULD)
* Initiates the cargo claims process
* Safe operation of ground service equipment in connection with above duties and only after proper training
* Provides information to customers: cargo rates, U.S. Customs and agriculture requirements information, etc.
* Performs all lower classification work within same IAM Class
* Picks up and drops off cargo at the flight line for all flights
* Accounts for and audits daily cash and charge transactions of interisland, domestic, and international shipments
* Where required, recording and reporting of meteorological observations
* Other requests as directed by Management
*Minimum Requirements:*
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Possesses solid computer skills with the ability to learn and use new software applications
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal, in English
* Excellent listening skills and the ability to respond and effectively resolve guest inquiries / concerns
* Ability to obtain restricted area clearance (AOA card, Customs seal)
* Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment while maintaining professionalism and composure at all times
* Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, which includes the ability to lift up to 70 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs. frequently
